Bishop Christopher J. Thomas Sr. has been a lifelong member of the A. O. H. Church of God Inc. His Father, Elder C. J. Thomas, pastored and started several churches and his mother, Mother Julia Thomas, was a well-known singer throughout the church. He has spent his life serving the church in all capacities. He has served as Chairman of the Deacon Board, Youth President, Youth District Worker, Sunday School Teacher, Usher, Trustee, Administrative Assistant to the Southern Regional Youth President, Youth Pastor, Church Organist and Assistant Overseer and District Overseer. He is currently serving as the Pastor of The Cathedral of The Cross A. O. H. Church of God and was consecrated to the Office of Bishop June 2023.
Bishop Thomas is Married to Reverend Annie Thomas, and proudly boast 38 years of marriage. They have three Children together Deanna Gray, Crystal Thomas and Christopher Thomas Junior. He has one Daughter-in-Law, Courtney and one Son-in-Law, Quinten Gray. He also has five Grandchildren Israel Gray, Nathan Gray, Zion Gray, Berniece Gray, and Jael Gray.
Bishop Thomas was educated in the public-School system in Montgomery, Al and Birmingham, AL. He graduated from Glenn High School in Birmingham, Alabama in 1981 ranked #6 in the class and was a member of the National Honor Society, Attended University of Alabama and UAB. He later received an Associate of Science Degree for Fire Science from Lawson State Community College.
Bishop Thomas was a 30 Year Veteran of the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service where he retired as a Battalion Chief in August of 2015. He is presently teaching High School Students at Parker High School in the Fire Science Career Technical Curriculum. Teaching Young People, the skills to become Fire Fighters.
